We were able to finally visit Lumang Gapan last December and here is our experience.
We finally had the chance to visit Lumang Gapan (also known as Little Vigan) in Nueva Ecija last December. Ito yung matagal na naming gustong puntahan sa Nueva Ecija kaya lang we kept on cancelling our plans. First was that at the height of Lumang Gapan’s popularity around the year 2021, there were huge numbers of people visiting this popular tourist destination and we didn’t want to join the clamor for safety reasons. Second, whenever we were in our house in San Antonio, we never felt like going out because we just wanted to relax (and sleep).
Anyway, since medyo nag-wane na rin yung popularity ng Lumang Gapan, we thought of finally pushing through with our plans. Nung nagpunta kami last December, di na rin ganun karami ang mga tao and then a lot of shops have already closed in Tagpuan sa Lumang Gapan.

Old houses in Lumang Gapan |
By the way, ang pinakamalaking tanong naming nun na medyo nahirapan kami hanapan ng sagot was about parking. If it’s your first time, I’m sure you would ask the same. Where do you park in Lumang Gapan? Well, street parking is allowed in Lumang Gapan, wag lang mag-double park so that other vehicles can comfortably pass through.

By the way, to those who are not yet in the know, Lumang Gapang was a project of the local government of Gapan City. The project turned out to be a hit, with tourists eventually dubbing Lumang Gapan as Little Vigan because of its similarity to Calle Crisologo in Vigan, Ilocos Sur.

Nag-visit rin pala kami sa Three Kings Parish Church before kami naglibot sa Lumang Gapan. Makikita rin dito ang Divina Pastora College, one of the well-known educational institutions in Gapan City.

Tagpuan sa Lumang Gapan |
Maganda ang Lumang Gapan, yung streets are lined with cobblestones and then lined with beautiful streetlights. Masarap maglakad dito dahil relaxed lang ang mga tao.
After going around Lumang Gapan, lumipat kami sa Night Market dahil nagpapabili ng toy si Rafa. May mga food stalls din dito if you want to eat.

Ferris Wheel in Gapan City Plaza |
From the Night Market, we went to the Gapan City Plaza. It was festive, with a lot of Christmas lights and decor. There was a giant Ferris Wheel in the middle of the Plaza; locals could ride it for free (you just need to present an ID) while visitors needed to pay just a minimal fee.
If you want to eat, there are popular restaurants like Luz Kitchenette and fast food chains that you may want to check out.

All in all, we had a good experience at Lumang Gapan. It’s a beautiful tourist destination that everyone should visit at least once.
