Here's our family lunch experience at Dory's Restaurant in Novaliches.
After more than five years, we had the opportunity to eat at Dory’s
Restaurant again. I remember the first time we ate here as a family; it was
after Miguel’s baptism at the National Shrine and Parish of Our Lady of
Mercy, the oldest church in Novaliches, Quezon City.
Our Family Lunch Experience at Dory’s Restaurant (Novaliches) + Menu
I remember enjoying the food at that time while Mommy Khris was feeling
nostalgic about how they used to eat at Dory’s Restaurant on special occasions when
they were little. Apparently, Dory’s Restaurant has been in the Jordan Plains
and Novaliches area since time immemorial.
It’s one of the non-chain restaurants in the area that stood the test of time.
Just the same, the quality of the food here remains excellent.
Dory’s Restaurant’s homey ambiance
What we like most about Dory’s Restaurant is its home ambiance. It’s actually
quite plain, even the chairs and tables are simple furniture that can be seen
in homes. It’s best to eat here during off-peak hours because it can get
really crowded during peak hours (around lunchtime and at dinner time).
Dory’s Restaurants also accepts functions and events, so you’d better check
first if there are private gatherings in the restaurant. All in all, we like
the no-fuss, no-frills atmosphere of Dory’s Restaurant.
What we ordered
As with our other family lunches, we had our kids in mind when we ordered at
Dory’s. Here are the items that we tried:
Fried chicken
Fried chicken |
I didn’t try the fried chicken, but it looks okay. The skin seems crisp and
flavorful and the meat looks juicy. Miguel didn’t like it too much although
Rafa ate a lot of the fried chicken.
Lechon Kawali
Lechon Kawali |
I like how crunchy and flavorful the skin is. The meat is also delicious. Over
the fried chicken, Miguel loved the lechon kawali and kept asking me for the
skin.
Fish Fillet with Tokwa and Taosi
Fish fillet with tokwa & taosi |
This is my favorite. I like fish fillets with tofu. I like how the sauce
permeates the fish meat. The tofu also tasted fresh and the taosi provided
another depth of flavor.
Pancit canton
Pancit Canton |
I like the classic taste of pancit canton. I think one should always try
pancit canton when eating in a Chinese restaurant. I can’t help but eat the
pancit canton with rice.
Sauteed Squid with Kumpao sauce
Sauteed Squid with Kumpao sauce |
The sauce and the squid were also delicious but I was too full to try it
beyond a spoonful. In fact, we didn’t get to finish this and requested this
for takeout.
Hototay soup
Hototay soup |
I like to order Hototay soup when it’s available. I like the mildly rich
flavor of the soup from the vegetables and the meatballs.
