Sharing our unforgettable family lunch experience at Ka Tunying's Cafe in Visayas Avenue.
I know that Ka Tunying’s offers delicious food because they sent me
sample items
to try in the past. However, our family was recently able to try eating at
Ka Tunying’s restaurant in Visayas Avenue, Quezon City and that’s where we
found out that they offer many great-tasting food options (mainly Filipino
dishes). What I do like about Ka Tunying’s menu is that the selections are
inspired by their very own family recipes plus products from Nueva Ecija,
our home province (yes, we are kababayans and we come from the same town,
San Antonio).

Our family dining experience
A few months ago, we celebrated Father’s Day at Ka Tunying’s and we had a
wonderful family lunch. We liked to try many of the items on the menu so we
ended up ordering a feast.
Here’s what we tried:
Kalabasa Ukoy
Kalabasa ukoy |
The crispiness of the kalabasa ukoy is very satisfying. This also pairs well
with the vinegar dip. Miguel also approves of the crispiness of the kalabasa
ukoy, getting one after another.
Tinapa Rolls
Tinapa rolls |
We love that each roll is packed with tinapa flakes. This is great as an
appetizer or a main dish and is best when dipped in vinegar.
Pork Sisig
Pork sisig |
This is my personal favorite. I love the crispiness and flavor of Ka Tunying's
pork sisig.
Crispy Bangus
Crispy bangus |
Both our kids love crispy bangus that's why we ordered it. The flavor and
crunch didn't disappoint.
Pansit ni Nanay Benny
Pancit ni Nanay Benny |
This is one dish that we all agreed was noteworthy. We love the flavor of the
pansit, the firmness of the noodles, and the generous toppings of meat,
seafood, and vegetables.
Bulalo
Bulalo |
The flavor of the soup and the meatiness of the beef were satisfying. Both
Miguel and Rafa also loved the bulalo soup at Ka Tunying's.
Gising-gising
Gising-gising |
This is not the usual gising-gising that is served in restaurants. In fact,
the ingredients and presentation of this dish are closest to chop suey.
Nonetheless, it was delicious. The vegetables are crisp and the sauce is
mildly spicy.
Ka Tunying's Branches

Epilogue
All in all, we had a hearty and enjoyable family lunch at Ka Tunying's. We
loved the food so much that we bought ginataan, champorado, and pastries for
takeout.
