Remembering our gondola ride experience at The Venetian Macao.
Around nine years ago, Mommy Khris and I got to experience riding a gondola
at The Venetian Macao. It was a last-minute decision since we wanted to
spend the rest of our time in Macau shopping for souvenirs before our
flight. We were glad we chose the gondola ride because it was a first for
us.
Wordless Wednesday: Gondola Ride at The Venetian Macao
Plus, it was free – normally it’s a paid service but it was part of the
package when we booked a room at The Venetian Macao – so we figured it was the
more practical activity to cap off our honeymoon. Anyway, since there was a
good number of guests who also wanted to try it, you have to wait your turn
before you can ride the gondola. Nevertheless, it was just a short waiting
time because are several gondolas available to serve tourists.
How would I describe the experience? Let me tell you first that the gondola
wasn’t exclusive to us; there was another couple with us when we rode it. We
did ask them to take this souvenir photo of us. In return, we offered to take
their photo as well. In terms of the actual gondola ride, it was fun although
there was nothing really spectacular about it. It was similar to riding an
ordinary boat, except of course we had a gondolero (gondolier) to
paddle for us.
Speaking of our gondolero, he was kind enough to entertain us with his
stories, jokes, and songs. We thought he was Italian at first (he made us
guess his nationality) but he eventually revealed that he was Portuguese. I
remember that he also took a photo of our group but I eventually lost it
together with the majority of my photos in Macau. He also kept us entertained
with his balancing skills.
Anyway, you might be wondering how we were able to have that gondola ride
inside The Venetian Macao. Well, it was in a man-made “river” inside The
Venetian Macao. I think that would also give you an idea of how vast and
spacious the hotel is.
In the end, we alighted with smiles on our faces and were happy with our
decision to take that free gondola ride at The Venetian Macao.
