Samsung Galaxy M53 5G Review: A Quality Device For The Budget-Conscious Family Travel Blogger

Sharing my honest review of the Samsung Galaxy M53 5G mid-range smartphone.
The Samsung Galaxy M53 5G mid-range smartphone is a capable device that’s
perfect for those who are looking for a good-quality handset at a price that
is more reasonable than a flagship phone. Its strong points are its gorgeous
screen, solid build quality, and good battery life.

Samsung is the best Android device
I consider Samsung the best brand when it comes to Android smartphones. Mommy
Khris once owned a Samsung Galaxy J7 Pro, S4, and S6 and I’ve seen how good
those devices performed. They were study devices and the software remained
reliable and fluid after years of using them. In fact, those devices are still
alive to this very day, having sold them to our relatives who still use them.
What can users expect from the Samsung Galaxy M53 5G?
Honestly, I’ve never really been big on specs because it’s real-life usage
that will matter the most. It is only by using a device will you be able to
gauge how pleasant it is to use for your day-to-day needs.
The back attracts a lot of fingerprints |
Having said that, when buying a device, you have to consider the tasks for
which you will use it: will it be for your everyday communication and
multimedia use only, will it be for gaming, or will it be for vlogging?
That would determine if the device specs that you are considering would be
able to power up your requirements. Naturally, as the device specs go higher,
the price also goes up. That should be a good gadget buying guide for
consumers. It’s also good to keep that in mind to manage our expectations when
considering a specific device to buy.
Anyway, the Samsung Galaxy M53 5G is priced at PhP 26,990 in the Philippines.
For that price, you get the following specs:
- 6.7 inches Super AMOLED Plus, 120Hz Corning Gorilla Glass 5
- Android 12, One UI 4.1
- MediaTek MT6877 Dimensity 900 (6 nm) processor
- Octa-core
- Quad rear camera (108 MP, f/1.8, (wide), PDAF; 8 MP, f/2.2, (ultrawide), 1/4", 1.12µm, 2 MP, f/2.4, (depth); and 2 MP, f/2.4, (macro))
- Front camera (32 MP, f/2.2, 26mm (wide))
- Li-Ion 5000 mAh, non-removable battery
- Side-mounted fingerprint sensor
- Face recognition
What’s to love about the Samsung Galaxy M53 5G?
Again, I’m all about experiencing and using a phone when judging its
performance. Perhaps that’s also the reason why I try my best to invest in
flagship devices (doesn’t necessarily have to be the latest) because they’re
almost always predictably pleasant to use. Just the same, even if the Samsung
Galaxy M53 5G is a mid-range phone, it does have a lot of strong points when
it comes to real-life usage.
Here are the top three things to love about the Samsung Galaxy M53 5G:
1. Gorgeous screen
We interact with our phones through its screen. Thus, it’s just fair to rate a
phone based on the quality of its screen. The Samsung Galaxy M53 5G features a
big 6.7” Super AMOLED Plus screen with a high 120 Hz refresh rate. AMOLED
screens are known for their vivid colors that users would appreciate if they
love to watch videos on their devices. As for the refresh rate, the higher it
is, the smoother the scrolling experience becomes.
I love Samsung’s screens because the colors are rendered crisply and
outstandingly. That goes the same for Samsung Galaxy M53 5G’s screen; I love
looking at it and scrolling through the user interface. The front camera is
also small and indeed much better to look at as compared to a notched display.
If there’s one thing that would make me want to buy a Samsung phone, it’s the
beautiful all-screen design.
2. Robust body
I love how solid the body of the Samsung Galaxy M53 5G feels. It has a plastic
back but it looks like glass at first glance. In fact, it doesn’t feel like
plastic at all when you hold it.
When you hold the Samsung Galaxy M53 5G, you will definitely feel that it has
a well-put-together device. There’s no creaking sound when you lightly press
the panels and it also looks like it could take a light beating or two without
breaking.
Best of all, the Samsung Galaxy M53 5G doesn’t look cheap. It could easily
pass for a premium device based on its design.
3. Amazing battery life
I also like that the Samsung Galaxy M53 5G has good battery life. I always use
it to play 8-hour-long lullaby music at night while connected to WiFi.
Surprisingly, it manages to survive the night; from 80% battery charge, it
would usually have around 15% battery charge left by around 7:00 AM.
Again, good battery life is important since it’s inconvenient to be charging
your device several times a day, which may pose a problem if a power outlet is
unavailable.
What about the Samsung Galaxy M53 5G’s camera?
In this age of social media and digital communications, having a good camera
is important. Based on my experience, I would say that the Samsung Galaxy M53
5G takes decent photos. They’re quite alright for capturing everyday moments
and for posting on social media accounts.
However, don’t expect its camera to be as powerful as that in the Samsung
Galaxy S22. Again, for its price point, the Samsung Galaxy M53 5G’s camera
works fine.
What can be improved in the Samsung Galaxy M53 5G?
Overall, the Samsung Galaxy M53 5G is easy to recommend to my fellow consumers
because of its strong merits.
One thing that I thought that can be improved
though, and this is just a minor suggestion, is the design of the rear camera.
I just thought that it wasn’t as sexy as the rear camera of, say, the phones
in the A-Series. Again, it’s just a minor comment.
Epilogue
To round it off, the Samsung Galaxy M53 5G is a competent mid-range phone that
features a beautiful display, a durable body, and a long battery life. It’s
the perfect device for those who are looking for a high-quality smartphone
without having to pay the hefty price of a flagship phone.

The Samsung Galaxy M53 5G is available in all Samsung stores and can also be
ordered through its
online store
(discounted) or on Lazada
and
Shopee.
Except for the actual photos of the device, the rest of the photos were taken using the Samsung Galaxy M53 5G. Please note that I reduced the file sizes of the photos, hence, the slight drop in picture quality.
