If you are thinking of bringing your kids outside, here is a list of recommended outdoor spaces in and around Metro Manila.
I love taking my kids outside to play and I’m also glad to see them
genuinely enjoying the outdoors. When we were renting a condo unit in
Makati, we would also go to the large common area. We would also take our
kids to the mall on weekends. However, since the COVID-19 pandemic began
last year, our outdoor activities have been limited.

The advantages of the outdoors to children’s development
I’m a firm believer in the advantages that the outdoors brings to children.
That’s the reason why I love to take my kids out to play. I let them run
outside, pick stones, and even play with dirt because it helps in their
overall physical and mental development. Aside from that, the microbes in the
dirt also help strengthen their immune system so that’s a good enough reason
to let kids get dirty.
A quick vacation in San Antonio, Nueva Ecija
We were fortunate because during our two-month vacation to the province, our
children were able to play outside almost every day just because there are
open spaces immediately outside the house and our garden and backyard were big
enough for our kids.
If not for our jobs that await us in Metro Manila, I would’ve wanted for us to
stay longer because I can see that our kids are having an extremely good time
in our provincial home. Furthermore, all the time that they spent outside
increased their bodies’ defenses so that they didn’t have an allergic rhinitis
attack or catch any cold bug during our stay in the province.
That being said, I began to look for outdoor spaces in and around Metro Manila
where I can safely take our kids.
Outdoor spaces that are safe and kid-friendly
I’m a member of a dad group and I’m happy that most of my fellow fathers are
looking for large open areas where they can also take their children out. Many
of them gave good suggestions, as such, I also want to share them with other
parents as a way of helping them out.

Epilogue
These days, going out with your family seems like a luxury. While we want to
give our kids a good time and create happy memories with them, doing so is
challenging because of the many health and safety risks posed by the COVID-19
pandemic.
Just the same, there are still many outdoor open spaces in and around Metro
Manila where we can take our kids for a weekend stroll or even a camping
adventure.
